Urodzony
w 1975 roku a mieszkający w Paryżu wszechstronny belgijski kompozytor i
pianista Jozef Dumoulin, ma za sobą współpracę m.in. z Markiem
Turnerem, Billem Carothersem, Michaelem Breckerem i Davem Liebmanem, ale
też Sebastienem Boisseau, Albanem Darche i Danem Weissem.
Znamy go z
takich projektów jak m.in The Red Hill Orchestra (album "Trust", 2014), Alban Darche Hyprcub ("Crooked House", 2015), czy Orca Noise Unit ("A Beginner's Guide to Diving and Flying",
2017).
Dumoulin to muzyk wciąż odkrywający nowe przestrzenie dla swej
artystycznej wypowiedzi. Najnowszym projektem w jaki zaangażował się
muzyk jest oryginalna formacja Trojan Panda, na której muzycy na co
dzień grający na innych instrumentach sięgnęli po gitary i perkusję.
Skład Trojan Panda tworzą zatem grający na gitarach elektrycznych:
fagocistka Sophie Bernado oraz pianiści Jozef Dumoulin i Léo Dupleix, a
także saksofoniści: grający na gitarze basowej Julien Pontvianne i
zasiadający za perkusją Hugues Mayot.
Powstała w tak niecodzienny sposób
muzyka oscyluje wokół awangardy, rocka i jazzu, lecz przede wszystkim
obala jakiekolwiek definicje, spajając rozmaite stylistyki. Materiał
wypełniający album "Peau", zarejestrowany został w latach 2017 i 2019, a płyta ukazała się 31 marca nakładem niezależnej wytwórni Carton Records.

Pianist Jozef Dumoulin (Belgium) redefined the Fender Rhodes keyboard through a scope that is at the same time fully contemporary, eclectic and highly personal. He is the first to present a full solo program featuring the instrument. Furthermore he is known for his open and luminous approach to the piano and to music in general, always anchored in tradition without being burdened by it. Besides the Fender Rhodes solo, his own projects include The Red Hill Orchestra (a trio with Ellery Eskelin and Dan Weiss) and a duo with Benoît Delbecq.
Highly-demanded as a sideman, Jozef Dumoulin has recorded and toured with the finest of musicians in the domain of jazz, improvised music, rock and traditional music. He currently lives in Paris.
