Na 16 kwietnia wytwórnia JazzHausMusik z Kolonii zapowiada aż pięć nowych albumów:

Urodzony w 1985 roku w Nadrenii saksofonista Moritz von Kleist, to uczeń takich mistrzów jak m.in. Claudius Valk, Matthias Nadolny, Paul Heller, Sebastian Sternal, Bruno Castellucci i John Taylor, u boku których też dane było mu niejednokrotnie występować. Od kilku lat saksofonista zdobywa coraz większe uznanie na europejskiej scenie jazzowej, tworząc rozmaite formacje jak choćby Master Sax, The White Elephants, Funkturm, Tonwerkstatt. Właśnie pod szyldem ostatniego składu powołanego do życia w 2012 roku, ukazał się jego nowy album.
Na "Tonwerstatt", grającego na saksofonie i klarnecie basowym Moritza von Kleista słyszymy w towarzystwie amerykańskiego trębacza Ryana Carniaux, kontrabasisty Rezy Askari i perkusisty Nilsa Tegena, znanego z współpracy m.in. z Georgiem Ruby (album "Deconstruction Service", 2009) i Kwartetem Henninga Berga ("Seven Lively Conversations", 2012).
W programie płyty znajdziemy dziewięć oryginalnych kompozycji von Kleista, których oszczędna forma zdaje się być idealnym punktem wyjścia dla zespołowych improwizacji.

Moritz von Kleist, saxophone player from Cologne, comments on his recent CD recording "Tonwerkstatt":
Musicians with a powerful, gripping sound always have been a thrill to me: musicians as John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins or Ornette Coleman. They all have one thing in common, that has always been fascinating me: each one of them interpreted in his very special way music without being accompanied by a harmony instrument. Thus and in combination withe the free playing of the musicians everything results in a very independent, yet very flexible aesthetics of sound. As for a painter it is possible to colour the music of the sound paintings in many different ways. This"impetous" and supposedly "wild" character does have a strong emotional impact on me. Sketching song structures exactly like that offers the best possible culture medium for my own music in order to freely convert my emotions into music. The line-up here without harmony instrument (tp, sax, b, de) therefore is perfect for me. The nine songs on "Tonwerkstatt" are like a gamut os sounds from loud, stirring emotions to intimate, almost vulnerable and minimalistic structures. I wrote the songs on "Tonwerkstatt" just for this band.
Ryan Carniaux (tp) is professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and is member of numerous bands of international musicians. Reza Askari (b) is sideman of, a.o., Lee Konitz and Hayden Chisholm. Nils Tegen (dr) has played in almost all great concert halls in the world as drummer as well as piano player. He collaborates with Bob Mintzer, Wende Snijders, Tocotronic and Michel Pilz.
